BIOGRAPHY
It all started one warm summer day in June 1996. Spiral Motion, full of
ideas and dreams,
was formed in Uppsala, Sweden. After years of groundwork, the structure of the band is
established and in 1998, things start to happen. In the following years, Spiral Motion build up a strong foundation with fans appearing
around the world. The band plays at a number of festivals around Sweden.
When a demo lands on the lap of Peter Åstedt early in 2000 he is so
impressed he reaches
for the phone immediately. Dead Frog Records sign the band in April the same
year. With
no time to lose, the band's first EP, The Chaos Parade is released in July
2000. The
record climbs rapidly to the higher reaches of various charts. The Chaos Parade attracts positive reactions from the media, fans and fellow
artists.
Radio play, TV and newspaper interviews follow. Wanting to strike while the
iron is hot,
the band concentrates on recording the tracks for their debut album.
Spiral Motion try their new material out in front of live audiences both in
Sweden and
abroad. In London, they play alongside Mazarine Street and David and the
Citizens at the
Borderline. During this time, Spiral Motion are named among the ten most interesting
bands in Sweden
by the music business paper 'musikindustrin'. The 4th of April 2002, the band released their first album. The album is
snapped up by
the fans and 2002 is a good year for the Spirals. But the year end and 2003
brings with
it a number of crises. First keyboard player Fredrik Janson decides to
leave the band,
followed in the Spring by Singer Lina Eriksson's departure. The remaining three members are determined that Spiral Motion should fulfill
its destiny.
Stephen takes over the vacant microphone. With all members expressing a
desire to move
the sound in an edgier, more extrovert direction, they set their sights on a
guitarist to
complete the line-up. They were soon to find their man, Per Normann.
Now, 2004 means a fresh start for Spiral Motion. With a new enthusiasm and a
new sound,
the Spirals are hungrier than ever!
