BIOGRAPHY
The name The Callahan has been around for six-seven years, but under different constellations, playing all sorts of music! After playing different styles of music for a while, the sound took a more defined form in the direction of rock/pop! Changing some members the final setting was done 2004.
With a big bag of songs, things started moving forward, and the band got lots of gigs! With no records deal they went on big festivals and landed on the number one on many demo-sites on the net.
They went on the Popaganda festival (biggest festival in Stockholm), Pride festival, Sundsvalls gatufest and more. A thing they like to do is play live and tour. Also their reputation for a fantastic live show was set. Many student- unions hired them to make their party go through the roof.
In January 2004, the band went to Malmö to record with Anders Alexander from Alice In Videoland. The result of this session became an EP with four tracks that was released a month later. In December the band decided to sign a deal with Dead Frog Records.
In April Dead Frog Records released Melody That Counts as a single. It was a radio hit through out Sweden. P3 (Sweden’s biggest radio station) had it on rotation for 3 month. P5 the biggest local station in Stockholm had it for 4 month. Both Student radio had as commercial radio.
The Album was recorded with Anders Alexander in his studio during the spring and summer of 2005. But the Band got one festival gig between sessions on Peace and Love festival, the 4th biggest in Sweden. They where invited by more but had to say no for recording time.
The album named Hardpop after the Callahan style of music was released in October. The first pressing was sold out on two weeks. And a second had to be done. Same with all merchandise, sold out after 4 gigs.
The band also was on the vinyl compilation Modern noise 3 in Germany with the song Server X.
