BIOGRAPHY
- They sound really rather ravishing in a lets make some sunshining
indiepop disposable kind of way. Music for May Day road trips
to the beach and refusing to take your jacket off when you get
there.
- Allistair Fitchett, British Columnist.
Sea Storm Blows is the debut album from The Sonnets. It was
recorded in the heart of the country, South Sweden.
Influenced by Northern soul, The Beach Boys och Gram Parsons The
Sonnets are aiming for soulpop full of passion, melody and harmonies
all dressed up in the smartest suit. The album also contains a
children's choir singing their young hearts out.
The record is already released in a speciel edition in Japan (Quince
Records) and Australia (Blow Up) where the video is already on
MTV with bands such as Babyshambles, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc
Party.
The Sonnets are five 25-year old men from small swedish town Växjö
who moved to Malmö to make music together and live closer
to the sea. Having only released one ep they've already been on
MTV, national swedish music channel Z-TV, national radio P3, and
voted as the most exciting new band by Export Music Sweden. They
have also played in London and written soundtrack for two American
tv-series.
Five things you've always wanted to know about the Sonnets but
were too shy to ask:
1. The Sonnets' very first demo became a hit in Brazil. Singer
Per went there to play a festival in front of 50 000 people.
2. Per has been a busker in London for a while.
3. Ed Harcourt wishes he came up with the name The Sonnets first.
4. The Sonnets' first gig abroad was as a headline act on a one-day-festival
at The Underworld, Camden, London.
5. Famous swedish artist/video director Johan Renck a.k.a. Stakka
Bo is a fan of The Sonnets.
Sea Storm Blows is out in Sweden October 21. The single Louden
Up, Pretty! is out now.
